Old Man Lemur

Read here about what zookeepers are doing to keep their senior-citizen animals healthy. Most of these critters would have died at younger ages in their natural habitat, so there are new health challenges the veterinarians face. His little mustache is adorable!

Stop and Smell the Roses

I wish it was as easy to practice what Laurie Granieri preaches here, but it's a good reminder to us all to keep in mind that there is more to life than only work--even if you adore what you do.

Wine and Music Pairings

Read hear (the pun is in honor of my friend Bene's birthday) about pairing wine with....music.
The claim is that the taste changes based on the music one is listening to while tasting. This seems like a great idea for a party!

The Bard and Pink Floyd

It doesn't get more romantic than the Sonnet No. 18 and David Gilmour.

I have a line from this sonnet engraved onto the back of my iPod.

Sonnet 18

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.
